Welcome Back, Saints! St. Martin's Begins 2023-24 School Year

August 16th, 2023

From our youngest students to our seniors, the joy was palpable as students returned to the school they “cherish and they love,”

A buzz of excitement filled the air while faculty greeted students as they arrived on campus. Head of School Whitney Samuel Drennan ’94 greeted parents and students as they arrived during her inaugural first day of school as the head of her alma mater.

Today marked the first day of a new school year – a year that will be filled with the love, joy, and spirit of our StM community. We feel this spirit when we participate in time-honored traditions, such as St. Martin’s Day, Homecoming, Hibernation Day in George Cottage, Jour de France in Lower School, Middle School class trips, or Matriculation Day and Senior Chapel in Upper School. Joining together as a community is one of the best and most powerful ways to experience a shared sense of pride as we watch our students grow academically, artistically, athletically, and spiritually.

These traditions unite us, and St. Martin’s is truly blessed to have the community support, faculty and staff commitment, and parental involvement that create lasting memories for our students and make St. Martin’s an exceptional learning environment.

Today, students and faculty in every division met in the Dan and Frances White Chapel to celebrate an all-school chapel service. In her remarks to the school community, Mrs. Drennan recited the school prayer and highlighted the ways in which it speaks to our mission of Faith, Scholarship, and Service. She challenged each student to seek out ways, both big and small, that they can live out our mission this school year.

Following the chapel service, students dispersed across campus to their classrooms. When the final bell sounded, it marked the end of the first day and the beginning of an exciting new year.
