StM Counselor Honored with Award
November 13th, 2023
Lower School Counselor Christina Heath, M.Ed., LPC-S, NCC, doctoral candidate, was recently honored with the Prospective Counselor Educator or Supervisor Award from the Louisiana Association for Counselors Education and Supervision (LACES). Each year the Louisiana Counseling Association (LCA) recognizes persons who have made significant contributions to the counseling profession. Mrs. Heath was presented with her award at the LCA Annual Conference held this fall.
LACES serves professional counselors and human development specialists who are primarily employed as counselor educators or supervisors of counselors in school or agency settings. This division provides leadership for improving counselor preparation and supervision.
Mrs. Heath has served at St. Martin’s for 8 years. As the Lower School Counselor, Mrs. Heath provides counseling services to Lower School students, including individual or group counseling, play therapy, art therapy, and family consultation. She also teaches Life Skills classes, which introduce students to a broad range of social-emotional topics, such as empathy, conflict resolution, goal setting, problem solving, self-esteem, mindfulness, and decision making.
