Eighth Grade Retreat Gives Students Opportunities to Live Out StM's Five Pillars

October 10th, 2024

This week’s eighth grade retreat to Feliciana Retreat Center was an incredible opportunity for students to live out St. Martin's five pillars: Our Episcopal Tradition, Academic Excellence, A Love of Thinking and Learning, A Supportive and Diverse Community, and A Campus of Opportunity. Through challenging activities like rock climbing, ziplining, and archery, students embraced Academic Excellence by pushing their limits and learning new skills. The calmness of canoeing and journaling offered moments for deep reflection, while the Astronomy and Owl Hikes introduced new ways of expanding knowledge, sparking curiosity and a Love of Thinking and Learning. Team-building exercises and a shared campfire strengthened our sense of Our Supportive and Diverse Community, while a student-led chapel service was a beautiful representation of Our Episcopal Tradition. Every moment throughout the retreat reminded participants that St. Martin's Campus of Opportunity extends beyond our physical borders, providing our students with the opportunities, tools, and support students need to uncover new interests, develop new skills, design their own path, and foster their purpose.
