Pre-K Explores Early Reading Skills Through Library Class
October 3rd, 2024
A love of reading starts early at St. Martin’s — and library time is a favorite for so many of our Pre-K students! This week, Mrs. Shelley Foster has been reading “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat,” the Halloween-themed book in the “Old Lady” series, with Pre-K. As each menu item was read, students dropped it into the Old Lady’s “mouth.” Our Pre-K loved listening to the story and guessing if their item would be next. It was a great way for our young Saints to build their pre-reading skills by experiencing rhyme, repetition, sequencing, and cause and effect. All of which boost fluency and vocabulary skills!
