Seniors Take on Leadership Roles Across Campus on Senior Leadership Day

February 6th, 2025

At St. Martin’s Episcopal School, tradition and leadership go hand in hand. Each year, Senior Leadership Day offers students a one-of-a-kind opportunity to step into the roles of faculty and staff, gaining firsthand experience in the daily responsibilities of educators and administrators.

Established in 1980 by beloved English teacher June Wells, this event—originally called “Senior Teacher Day”—has evolved to include not only classroom teaching but also administrative roles such as division heads. Throughout the day, seniors attend meetings, lead lessons, and manage school operations, gaining valuable insight into the challenges and rewards of being a working professional.

More than 40 years after its inception, Senior Leadership Day remains a favorite tradition, offering students an experience they describe as "eye-opening," "challenging," "fun," and "inspiring." By stepping into leadership roles, seniors leave with a greater appreciation for their teachers and a deeper understanding of responsibility—preparing them for the next chapter of their lives.
