Pre-K Learns About Citizenship Through Community Day

March 24th, 2025

Teaching students how to be engaged citizens in their communities begins early at St. Martin’s. In a tradition that dates back more than 30 years, Pre-K students assume the roles of workers in a pretend town on Community Day.

From healthcare workers to barbers and beauticians to bakers and movie theater attendants and more, students “work,” offering a product or service for their fellow classmates, parents, or family, earning money during their shifts. Students then use the money they earned to enjoy a baked treat, watch a movie, purchase a toy, or even go bowling! This fun-filled experience helps them make connections and learn the building blocks of good citizenship.

Afterwards, they helped assemble care packages of art supplies to donate to Manning Family Children’s Hospital.
