Seventh Graders Participate in Youth Legislature
April 4th, 2024
Seventh graders (with the help of some eighth graders) recently traveled to Baton Rouge to participate in the Youth Legislature program, competing against students in schools across the state. Youth Legislature introduces students to the legislative process by allowing them to write bills to present during a two-day mock legislative session held in downtown Baton Rouge. Students may also run for office and elect their peers to Governor, Lt. Governor, and members of both the House and Senate. Several St. Martin’s students served as officers at Youth Legislature, 19 made it into the Hall of Fame, and four of our bills were signed into mock law. Congratulations to the Class of 2029 on all their hard work!
