Lower School Celebrates the Blessing of the (Stuffed) Animals

October 4th, 2024

This morning Lower School students participated in a heartwarming tradition: The Blessing of the (Stuffed) Animals!

The Feast of St. Francis, celebrated each year on October 4, honors the patron saint of animals and creation. St. Francis of Assisi’s love and compassion for all living creatures, both great and small, serve as a beautiful inspiration for us to cherish and protect the natural world around us. In keeping with his spirit, Lower School students brought their most cherished stuffed animals to chapel to receive a special blessing.

Today is also the culmination of the Season of Creation (September 1 - October 4) is celebrated by Christians around the world as a time for renewing, repairing and restoring our relationship to God, one another, and all of creation.
